Objectives

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology allows users to make voice calls using a broadband internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line. Due to its bandwidth efficiency and low cost, public users have come to rely on VoIP telephony over dedicated and public IP networks to connect with others. VoIP products provide "unified communications" services that treat all communications—phone calls, faxes, voice mail, e-mail, Web conferences and more—as discrete units that can all be delivered via any means and to any handset, including mobile phones.

The objective of this course is to give students a basic understanding of VoIP technology and VoIP solutions. During the course, students will develop practical knowledge of VoIP concepts (eg. SIP, Call features and FAX over IP). They will also learn to utilize functionality and applications in line with ZyXEL VoIP products. These goals will be achieved through lessons that emphasize logical thinking, clear delivery; and with systematic slide shows.
